The Great Australian Outback Challenge

Broken Hill, where the eagle soars high and the odd birdie flies by, will host the inaugural Great Australian Outback Golf Challenge. The Resources and Energy Symposium invites all ardent golfers to sign on for what will be an event par excellence. We can't guarantee an albatross but we can promise there will be more than one bogey. The GAGC is a great ice-breaker for the three-day Resources and Energy Symposium.

Employing Ambrose rules the teams tee off, the best shot is selected, all team players then hit off from that spot; the best second shot is selected and team members all hit off from that point and so on until the ball is holed. The team records how many shots it has taken them to hole out (gross score) to determine the overall winners of the fabulous trophy and get their names on the valedictory board.

For those who regard themselves above Ambrose level, a serious 7am hit off is also on the card with hole-in-one prizes to match. All participants will meet at the 19th hole to celebrate the day's achievements. The magnificent golf course is a picturesque contrast of red/orange desert and lush tree-lined greens set in a beautiful, natural valley surrounded by rugged outback hills. The Broken Hill Golf and Country Club offers 18 holes of unique golfing experience.

Resources & Energy Symposium 2011

Broken Hill, also known as the Silver City, is home to this Oasis in the desert, the Broken Hill Golf Club. Nestled in rugged, picturesque hills, it is amazing to find this wonderfully presented 18 hole course. Excellent fairways lead to magnificent greens on each hole. Trees and creek beds line the course, which you will share with kangaroos, emus and ducks. The clever layout makes this 6,154m journey surprisingly easy to walk, in all but extreme weather. 8 brand new electric Golf Carts are available to hire. The licensed clubrooms incorporate a well stocked pro shop with resident golf pro, and offers clubs and buggies for hire. The town has a great range of accommodation, from budget to luxury, plus many fine restaurants and bistros.
